Attached is the list of Holidays given to students of a
School in the Capital city of UP. 24 –
of the declared Holidays in this list are marked with sign –O-. None of these
days is celebrated by ALL, because of individual faith, customs or likings.
Besides these, there are 52- Sundays (nonworking days) in a year. Then there
are Summer/ Winter Vacations. On extreme weather conditions too Schools are
closed. In between too there can be still more days declared as such. So only
Teaching/ literacy suffers (leave aside Education which otherwise is a casualty
in our system) Out of these 24 Holidays, many are also declared as non-working
days for offices, factories and other business establishments, resulting in
losses in many ways. Most may be knowing that this number 24 has become so due
to continuous additions being made by the State Govt. to the lists just to gain FAVOURS and Votes. Conditions in other States may not
be any different. Holidays in general result in loss of work and production. So
only, this is suggested that if at all curtailments to the lists are not
possible, then at least the Govts. can mandate just about 5/6 Holidays in a
year which can be availed on restrictive
basis by each individual based upon
personal needs and beliefs. This will
ensure that the activities in the Schools, offices, factories will continue
un-hampered and productivity will not suffer, nor un-needed rests are given to
any one. Then for employees and workers, there are also provisions for Casual,
& Earned leaves of about more than a
month in a year besides some offices work only on FIVE says is a week.
Sufficient for other purposes.
All communities
have Volumes of Shastras which contain many guide lines for
the generations. So instead of just creating more GODS by declaring Holidays in
their names and going in for worships, the best can be to CULL the contents, gain
wisdom and put to use in life. As for the mentioned personalities, some of whom
have been real Great and did lots for this Country and humanity in total. Their
thoughts can be passed on to all including the Students to make lives better
for all. In respect of some Political persons, Excuse me to say that conditions
in our Country are not left worth living, sufficient to provide reasonably comfortable,
fear tension & Hassel free
LIVES, so only all in the system since Independence are to be held
responsible. So in their case better may be to learn from their doings, non
doings and Wrong decisions, act to
follow their positive decisions and work to force corrections where ever needed
in the present day conditions. Similarly Holidays declared in the respective
area on Polling days for elections too can be taken care of, as many enjoy the
day only as non-working day, but do not even turn up to vote. In this case we
can also learn from other Countries.
In the end the matter of declaring Holidays may be mandated
as the Subject under control of Central Govt. and politics in this and rather
all the Nation concerning and making matters is avoided.
